When my friend was packing for his mission, I went over and hid some messages in his luggage for him to find. I tried to hide some of them in places that he wouldn’t find right away. I loved the idea that, weeks into his mission, he would find a random note. I hid them in obvious places, like his shoes, but then I tried to find less obvious places, like in his coat pockets that he wouldn’t wear until winter, or in parts of his scriptures that he probably wouldn’t read soon, like Leviticus. I even hid some in the crevices and pockets of his suitcase, hoping that if he used the suitcase enough between transfers that he would eventually find them.
This digital download has several quotes for you to cut out and hide in your missionary’s luggage. But if your missionary is already gone, or if you don’t have a missionary, don’t fret, there many ways you can use these:
This is also a good idea for someone leaving off to college, or a random act of kindness. Tape up inspirational quotes, personal notes, and movie quotes in their bedroom. For someone going to college, try to put them up in their new bedroom.
You can print these off a little larger, and send them to your missionary one by one, as postcards in the mail. Every day, or every week, you can send another postcard, so they have something to look forward to in the mailbox. When we did this, we took the postcards to an extended family gathering and had everybody write on one. I then took them all home and mailed one a day for two weeks.
You can even use these for your ministering families. Tape them up on their front door to surprise them when they come home.
Give your missionary the whole stack at once for him/her to give out to other people on their mission.
So many options!
